Robin Jarossi
I'm a London-based journalist and writer. My first book was a true-crime re-evaluation of the unsolved Hammersmith Murders in London – The Hunt for the 60s' Ripper. In addition, I'm a member of the Crime Writers' Association and have been a judge for the CWA's Ian Fleming Steel Dagger (best thriller). Last year, 2022, saw the publication of my book Murder by the Sea, co-authored with David Howard, a companion book to the television documentary series. My new release for 2023 is The Real Ted Hastings. This explores the true scandals and tales of corruption that inspired the hit BBC drama Line of Duty. I talked to a number of retired Scotland Yard detectives to gather their experiences of dealing with real bent coppers. Non-fiction books I admire include The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule, I'll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara, Mapping Murder by David Canter, The Fatal Passion of Alma Rattenbury by Sean O'Connor, Smear! Wilson and the Secret State by Stephen Dorril and Robin Ramsay, The Five by Hallie Rubenhold, The Suspicions of Mr Whicher by Kate Summerscale, The Italian Boy by Sarah Wise, The Innocent Man by John Grisham and many more. My favourite fiction authors include Ian Rankin, James Sallis, Josephine Tey, George V Higgins, Patricia Highsmith, Robert Harris, Arnaldur Indridason, George Pelecanos and Adrian McKinty. TV? So many, but for starters Breaking Bad, Happy Valley, True Detective, Sherlock, The Wire, Mindhunter… Visit me at personsunknown.net
